Single star

As she boarded the Greyhound bus that would take her to a safe haven few states over, she looked for any seat next to a window. After she settled in and the bus pulled out of the station, she stared out into the cloudy twilight sky,  looking towards the single star that was shining in the dusk. The sorrowful colors that were slowly taking over the entire sky saddened her more than they should. Somehow, she couldn’t explain how but somehow, she knew that her one true love wasn’t on this planet; he hadn’t been born in the same galaxy as she. How is it possible for there to be such a mix up? Two souls that are meant to be together but are mistakenly separated by millions of light years simply shouldn’t happen. As the bus began to round a corner that would put the star out of view for the remainder of the trip, she promised herself that she would find a way to get to him. She knew he’d be doing the same. And maybe, just maybe, they would be able to find their path to each other.
